Preparation of Equipment (Group and Personal)

This is essential for a smooth, safe, and fun trip. The best planning reduces risk and allows us to concentrate on safety as well as a great expedition!

Once we are at our destination staging area, there will be little time to procure anything we may be missing. Essential items would take some time for us to locate and bargain for. We must build in the necessary redundancy in case items are lost or broken. We anticipate some items will still need to be procured, and we anticipate we will need to replace some gear between expeditions which will require skillful procurement and negotiation by our local friends.

We must also provide for extremely difficult portages. Therefore gear weight and bundling will be additional considerations.

Extremely difficult logistics are involved in staging such a major river expedition to rivers of an unknown and remote lands. Therefore careful, detailed, meticulous, and extremely well thought out planning is absolutely essential!
